VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations in Inverurie - 6th to 10th May 2025

Join the Inverurie community as we commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, marking 80 years of peace since the end of World War II in Europe. From Tuesday, May 6th to Saturday, May 10th, 2025, a variety of events will take place throughout Inverurie town, offering opportunities for remembrance, celebration, and community spirit.

Event Schedule:

• Tuesday 6th May:

  • VE Day Tea Dance at Inverurie Town Hall. Celebrate the occasion with dancing from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm, followed by tea, sausage rolls, and cakes at 3:00 pm. Enjoy a raffle. Entry is £3.00.
    

• Thursday 8th May:

  • Inverurie Pipe Band & Inverurie Branch of the Royal British Legion Performance at the Memorial Garden. The full band will perform at the War Memorial from 8:00 pm.
    

• Friday 9th May:

  • Vintage Car Show & Drive around Town at Garioch Heritage Centre (6:00 pm to 8:00 pm).

  • The Garioch Heritage Cafe will be open from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
    

• Saturday 10th May:

  • VE Day 80th Anniversary Commemoration Family Fun Event at Garioch Heritage Centre, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

  • Enjoy performances by the Rock Choir and Rhona Mitchell singers, a display of 40s fashion, the Museum open to visitors, various stalls, fundraising activities by local community groups and charities, and hot dogs & ice cream available for purchase.
